Carl Perkins Shared Services Arragement (SSA)

The CTE Carl Perkins Shared Services Arrangement (SSA) provides services to schools who are required, due to allotment amount or choose for programmatic or fiscal reasons, to select ESC 2 as their fiscal agent.  As the fiscal agent, the ESC 2 CTE Program, in coordination with the SSA members, will determine mutually beneficial uses for the Carl Perkins allotment.

The Carl Perkins SSA Cooperative has the following service goals:

  • to assist districts/charters in acquisition of curriculum materials, support material, and equipment;
  • to assist districts/charters in access and professional development in the use of the Apply Texas Counselor suite; 
  • to provide professional development for teachers and counselors on integration of CTE and academic education and assist districts in the development/implementation of Programs of Study;
  • to provide customized on-side services in addition to technical assistance and professional development in the area of Career Clusters and Programs of Study;
  • to serve as fiscal agent for the project that includes application, amendment preparation, and fiscal reporting requirements;
  • to assist districts/charters in continued implementation of new CTE TEKS as introduced; and
  • to provide districts/charters with career investigation, financial aid, and career portfolio support for all students.

SSA districts should use the following link and instructions to access Moodle resources:

  • Open a browser and go to http://online.esc2.net.
  • Click Log in in the upper right hand corner of the page.
  • Your Username is your email address. Enter it in the Username box.
  • Your password is everything before the @ symbol in your email address. Enter it in the password box.
  • Click the Login button.
  • On the next page you will see all the courses in which you are enrolled.
  • Click on the course title CTE Carl Perkins Shared Service Arrangement to enter the online support.

Career & Technical Education Cooperative

The Career and Technical Education Cooperative is committed to raising awareness of the obligations and opportunities in the area of CTE as we work to improve student achievement and prepare a post-secondary ready generation through project-based learning and integration of the four core content curriculum. Technical assistance, follow-up, direct services, and staff development opportunities are offered to CTE faculty and administrators in the areas of coherent sequence of courses, career concentration areas, integration of academics and CTE, leadership, and services to special populations.

The CTE Cooperative has the following service goals:

  • to assist districts in the delivery of the planning, placement and supplemental services for all students who are members of special populations;
  • to assist districts in providing information to parents about the opportunities available in Career and Technology and applied technology education;
  • to assist with the implementation of career guidance programs, K-12, and the development of career concentration areas for all students as indicated in the annual application;
  • to assist with training of counselors / CTE teachers in developing four year plans;
  • to provide technical assistance to LEAs in developing, implementing and evaluating the annual application and related activities;
  • to assist with preparing LEAs in the region for TEA District Performance-Based Monitoring (PBM) requirements and Office of Civil Rights (OCR) monitoring including required training;
  • to provide staff development for teachers and counselors on integration of CTE and academic education and assist districts in the development/implementation of programs of study; and
  • to provide training for CTE teachers in the area of special education, specifically the ARD process.

CTE Workshops

ESC 2 offers an array of workshops covering a wide range of topics including required training on work-based learning, CTE programs of study and coherent sequences, special populations, nontraditional career pathways, and core academic integration in CTE. They are offered on a consistent schedule throughout the school year and summer. Workshops are both informational and interactive and provide faculty and staff with a collaborative environment to share and discuss.  For a listing of available workshops click on the link below.  If your district would like to schedule an on-site workshop please contact the CTE Specialist for available days and pricing.
